Crack filling and crack sealing for Connecticut parking lots
Asphalt crack filling from the Moffett family crew in Guilford. Hot rubberized sealant goes into the cracks, so water stays out of your lot before winter freezes it.
Maggie answers the phone. Daily, 8 am to 6 pm. Holidays closed.
Cleaned out first
Each crack is blown clean before any sealant goes in.
Filled hot and level
Rubberized sealant, filled level with the surface, so the lot is drivable.
One family crew
Maggie quotes it. Joey's crew does the work.
Why cracks matter before winter
Water does most of the damage to a parking lot, and a crack is how it gets in. Asphalt crack repair is about shutting that door early.
On the Connecticut shoreline the pavement freezes and thaws again and again from late fall into spring. Water in a crack freezes and swells. The crack gets wider, the edges break, and a hairline becomes a pothole.
Fill the crack and the water stays out. The pavement around it stays in one piece, and the lot is ready for winter.
How asphalt crack filling is done
You may hear it called crack filling, crack sealing or parking lot crack repair. On this crew it is one job, done in three steps.
1
Clean it out
The crew cleans each crack and blows it out, so the sealant has clean pavement to hold.
2
Pour it hot
Hot rubberized sealant goes into the crack and fills it.
3
Finish it level
The crack is filled level with the surface, so the lot is drivable.
Crack filling comes before sealcoating
Sealcoat is a surface coat. It does not close a crack, so the cracks are filled first and the sealcoat goes on over them. Then the lot is ready for fresh lines.
The Moffett family does the work
Joey runs the crew and the equipment. Maggie runs the phone, the schedule and the quotes. The same family that quotes your lot is the one that fills it.
When: before winter.
Open for business: your customers still need to park.
What Maggie needs
To quote your lot, she needs to know where it is, how much of it is cracked and whether you plan to sealcoat after. A few photos help. Maggie quotes the job, and Joey's crew fills the cracks.
